Series Overview
The Cessna 150A is a two-seat, single-engine, high-wing light aircraft introduced in 1961 as the first major update to the original Cessna 150 series. Designed primarily for flight training and personal use, the 150A featured a critical design change where the main landing gear was moved two inches aft to prevent the aircraft from tipping onto its tail during loading and to improve nose wheel steering authority. Powered by a 100-horsepower Continental O-200-A engine, it offered stable handling characteristics, a cruise speed of approximately 106 mph, and a service ceiling of 14,000 feet. With an all-metal construction and tricycle landing gear, the 150A became a staple in flight schools, renowned for its forgiving flight dynamics, excellent visibility, and economical operation, helping to train hundreds of thousands of pilots throughout the 1960s.
